The Dream
Up to ninety percent of the world’s 3,000-7,000 languages are likely to disappear in the next century. Think about it, that’s up to 5,400 languages that will simply cease to be spoken anywhere on earth, permanently.
Earlier this year I was offered a life changing opportunity - to directly help to prevent this destructive process with the inspirational non-profit organisation The Rosetta Project in San Francisco. With your help, I could be working with some of the most renowned linguists in the world to document and archive languages in the creation of the world’s first publicly accessible linguistic digital library.
I will be engaging with native speakers of some of the world’s most endangered languages to preserve linguistic traditions and provide resources to help revive and revitalise their dying voices. Long term results will include an expansive digital archive detailing the intricacies of all human languages along with a laser etched disk which, like the Rosetta Stone, could be the key to preserving ancient languages for thousands of years to come.
I need your help raise up to £3,000 which will get me to San Francisco and support me while I complete this once in a life time opportunity.
